Battle of Arnhem from Amsterdam
In this one day remembrance tour you get the story of the British 1st Airborne Division in the iconic Battle of Arnhem in September 1944. First we visit the landing zone at Ginkel Heath and the culvert. Then we follow the route of 2nd Para battalion to the John Frost Bridge in Arnhem via Kate ter Horst House, Lonsdale Church, Urquhart House and Elisabeth Gasthuis. We go back to Oosterbeek for Hotel Hartenstein, the White house, Hacket's Hollow and the perimeter. We conclude with a visit to the CWGC Oosterbeek Cemetery to pay our respects. Visit to the Hartenstein Airborne museum is optional and may impact the schedule.

Your guide takes you on a road trip to Zeeland, a part of The Netherlands consisting of islands and peninsula's. Zeeland saw heavy fighting in 1944. Zeeland Flanders, South-Beveland and Walcheren had to be taken by the Allies to be able to use the Port of Antwerp. It took a lot of ingenuity and hard fighting to overcome the strong German defenses here. We also pay a visit to the new Liberation Museum Zeeland. Besides some interesting military historic sites you will see a lot of the typical Zeeland countryside. Hardly recovered from the World War 2 damage and loss of life Zeeland was hit again in February 1953 by a big flood. We will return over some of the Delta Works. After this tour you will understand the motto of the Zeelanders: Luctor at Emergo, I struggle and emerge. 11-12 hours tour duration is travel time included.
