Otavalo has a large indigenous population of Otavalos, where their mother language is Kichwa. In the Otavalo Market, you can find typical food and several places where the Otavaleños sell their handicrafts, textiles, ponchos, blouses, shirts, hats, alpargatas, and handmade alpaca tapestries.
